Education Malta is a not for profit foundation set up to promote the internationalisation of education in Malta and attract foreign educational entities to establish a presence in the country. It is the result of a public-private partnership between the Ministry for Education and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry.
The Ministry for Education strives to provide present and future generations with the necessary skills and talents for citizenship and employability. It is responsible for various entities in the area of education and employment that work to meet the demands of the population and effectively nourish one of the most important sectors for the future success of the Maltese islands.
The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry actively represents companies from all economic sectors and works to ensure that entrepreneurs enjoy the best competitive environment and regulatory conditions possible for the conduct of business. It is a strategic partner for the government and throughout the years has made numerous recommendations for the growth of the local economy. In its economic vision for Malta 2014-2020, the Chamber identified education as a sector ripe with potential for investment and one which has an exciting future ahead.
Education Malta’s mission is to assist academic enterprises and institutions to establish their presence on the island and raise Malta’s competitive edge in the international education sector. Within a dynamic evolving international society, education should know no boundaries and for this reason the foundation works to establish strong relationships with international higher educational institutions and encourages them to join the global higher education community and enrich knowledge production in every field of study. It also supports local entities in exporting their education services, as well as education providers and students alike by promoting education programmes.
Education Malta acts as a point of reference for any initiative coming from abroad which intends to establish itself in Malta within the education sector. The foundation aims to attract operators from across the educational world, ranging from primary to tertiary level providers, as well as entities such as examination boards and awards bodies, publishing houses and education technology companies.
Through its offices, Education Malta offers all the support required to investors, researchers and students alike by providing the necessary information and acts as point of contact in order to ensure the best outcome of the intended international collaboration in any particular venture of research or investment.
Education Malta works closely with National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE) and Malta Enterprise.
