The 41st Global Education Network Europe’s (GENE) Roundtable took place in Malta on 17 and 18 October. 70 participants from Europe met in Valletta for the two – day Autumn Roundtable that was opened by The Hon. Minister for Education and Employment, Evarist Bartolo who addressed all the delegates present. During this Autumn session each participant gave an account of the respective country’s input into Global Education and pursued further discussions during three workshops dedicated to Cross-Cutting issues.
Students from three local schools, namely; St Thomas Moore – Primary A Fgura, San Gorg Preca College – Blata l-Bajda Middle School and St Clare College Pembroke Primary School had the opportunity to present their GENE school – based projects together with their educators, during the session dedicated to Global Education in Malta. The projects presented focused primarily on diversity and multiculturalism; global citizenship and interculturality; investigation and solution proposal regarding food wastage with the mission to reduce food waste in restaurants.
This Autumn’s Roundtable was concluded with the Global Education Ideas Award ceremony that was held at the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry in Valletta. The three winners of 2019 Global Education Ideas Award are
– The Climate Living Lab at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, Belgium;
– One World Citizen, presented by e-graine, France;
– HN Global Academy – Global Education for journalists with journalists, presented by Hospodárske noviny, Slovakia.
The 41st Roundtable was organised by GENE with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion, the Ministry for Education and Employment and Education Malta.
